New to simulators, just got my R50. Distances seem to be somewhat close with the range feature, but when i try to use HTH, the distances of my shots are nowhere near the expected distances.

I finally got my sim studio setup and ready.  When using my R50, the range seems to be somewhat reasonable (less than expected but reasonable). However, when I try to play a course on HTH, I'm getting up to 60% less distance than expected.  Most shots seem to go quite a bit more left than expected also.

is this something others are having issues with?

  • I have the exact same problem. I've tried everything I can think of to fix the problem (lighting, alignment, golf balls, etc.) but nothing works. Others have complained of similar distance problems.

  • Only thing you can change is altitude makes distance more accurate for me 2000 fixes it. If you contact support they tell you some long list of changing things. Altitude is the only thing that works until they figure out how to fix it.

  • I'm having the same issue and for weeks have been trying to resolve it with Garmin. As requested, I've sent multiple emails with swing data to Garmin but customer service has yet to determine what the issue is or what they intend to do about it. It's particularly frustrating given how prevalent the distance accuracy issue appears to be (as evidenced by all the posts on this forum). Below is the response I received from "customer service" yesterday when i emailed yet again about resolving the issue...

I apologize for the late response. At this time there is still no update from our helpdesk but the issue is still being looked into for you. At this time it may be best to return it to where you purchased the device from. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
    Thank you for choosing Garmin,
  • I have the exact same issue; will be contacting support as well.

  • I have the same problem; will be contacting support. The range/practice areas are fine for all clubs. But on the courses my distances (specifically for irons) are severely reduced. A normal 8 iron that would fly 160 in the driving range is lucky to get 120 on the course. Driver seems to be more slightly more accurate, but the distance on basically all irons/wedge distance shots on the course is very suppressed regardless of if in rough or not.

  • Same issue here. Will be contacting support
