Attack angel

Hi,

Does anybody else think that the attack angel on the R50 is pretty step in comparison with for exampel trackman. My son who i is a very god player has an attack angel of -8 to -9 and sometimes over -10 degrees on the R50 with the 7 iron while trackman shows -4 to -6. My son is a very god player who also compets in tournaments.

We have tested this against diffrent trackmans and also another garmin R50 in diffrent enverioments device with the same results.

The woods and drivers are more inline with trackman. The stickers on the club ar all set correct.

That is extreme for any iron. I’m seeing -3.5 for 7 iron and maybe-5 for gap. I don’t know that I have ever seen a -6 or more. He would be taking a huge divot with a 7 iron over -6.

Only thing I can think of is making sure the unit is at the exact same level as the ball. Might make a difference but not entirely sure. What’s the AoA on pitching wedge?

Hmm, we have also tested in the local golfshop with their r50 against their trackman, with the same result. Did find this review and he seems to have encointered the same problem. I have posted a qustion to him about attack angel and he answered that he also recieved data with extreme angel of attack.

I have also seen the same in a youtube video he also has a couple degrees diffrence between trackman and R50

Wow! That is so far off from mine. Now I’m going to have to really pay attention to this.

I have had a few weird readings. 5 hybrid spinning 10k rpm for example and a couple balls spinning right or left out of control.

I haven’t had any weird ball flights happen in GSPro yet. Only Garmin range.

I had recorded a bunch of 7 iron shots in November using Garmin range. The average AoA is around -4. I did have a -6 but out of 90 shots it looks like -4 is the average for me.

Sad to see these discrepancies with an expensive unit like this.

Ok, have you ever hit a seven iron on a trackman or other divece. And what was your attack on that device? It would be nice if garmin coul comment on this topic.

I have the R10 as well and the AoA is showing higher numbers. Saw one over 9 and I would say the average was in the 6 range.

Ok, we tested against our R10 today and the R50 did show -3 to -4 more attack angel then the R10, we tested on the outdoor range today just so there nothing that interferes with the indoorlightning. In our case the R10 shows data on the attackangel much more inline with the trackman 4. I have contacted Garmin Sweden there we live. They want alot of data from me that they will sen to Garmin US.
