R50 Internet Requirement?

Can the R50 be used in Practice/Play Home Tee hero modes  without an internet connection?    

Seems like I've read you have to download courses in advance for HomeTee Hero Play and you need to be online to register the device, and to get updates from Garmin....are those the only times an internet connection is required?

    Yes, you are correct. I connect the R50 at home on my Wifi, check for any software updates, then use it on a range without any WiFi. Back at home, I connect and allow the saved sessions to upload (although there's no way to see-use the data except for on the R50 screen). You can see your completed "rounds" on Garmin Connect--but the range data does not appear there. It would be nice to be able to see your "practice" data on Garmin Connect in the same way that myFlightscope saves and displays your saved range data from a Mevo. 

    To answer your question succinctly: you do not need WiFi to use the R50.

    I should have added: be sure to download the course you want to play *beforehand* as you will not be able to do that w/o WiFi.
