Putting Practice Mode

I'm sure this probably won't be as popular of a request, but it'd be really nice if you could just do putting practice on the greens. It would be nice to have a way where you could position yourself around the green and just putt. also, maybe even for regular gameplay, but it’s just putting where you could practice on the greens. Also, it makes it kind of fun because you can set up putting really easily outside the context of a full simulator if you just want to have some fun with friends. Just a thought.

  • 100% it needs this. If I want to practice putting in my office, I have to hook the R50 up to GS Pro. This is fine, but (a) not everyone has GS Pro and (b) it really should be part of the software. Not bothered if it does any kind of club data, I just want to know if I'm hitting the ball straight. If you really went for it and did some crazy golf setups that would be awesome for getting the kids involved.

  • No “club path” or “attack angle” from the putter is a big miss IMHO. It’s the only thing I lost switching from the GCQuad. and the “total distance” seems wrong on every putt.

  • I really miss this feature switching from other launch monitors to R50. I really miss practicing putting with a launch monitor - would really appreciate if Garmin can add this feature to the practice suite. Thanks.

  • I've recently purchased a Garmin R50 and as much as I love use it for dialing in yardages, mainly for irons (full swing, 10-2, 9-3, etc), along with the odd round on Home Tee Hero (mainly the par 3 courses to be honest as again that my primary focus), there seems to be a massive oversight from Garmin in not offering a putting practice area.

I mean, they obviously allow putting on Home Tee Hero, and whilst I don't think its the greatest as its hard to read, it does give you the basic optics you'd be looking for in respect of club path, etc, etc, so why don't Garmin simply upload a simple practice green where you can practice putts of all lengths ? Seems a complete no brainer to me to be honest as you can obviously change the stimp if you want to practice on something more aligned to the speed/s of your home course, or if your going away somewhere and want to practice on greens of a certain speed.

Hopefully Garmin take this onboard, as appreciate I'm not the first to mention this, but as a golf improvement tool, surely they do realise around 35-40% of your shots are with putter (basing that on someone who shots 85 regularly, with 32/33 putts per round), so its obviously a key area of the game, and simply things like making sure your face it in line at point of impact are key fundamentals which it already offers in part.

I get everyone wants to smash driver further and further, but lets be honest, thats not how you improve at golf, thats mainly due to putting and sorting out your game from 100/150 in.

  • The original advertising for the R50 said it would provide statistics on all clubs.....putter to driver.   Hopefully the putting metrics will be coming?

  • It does provide putting metrics, its just you can't solely work on putting.

  • Club metrics on the putter?  Geez.....I'll have to look again.  I've just seen ball metrics.

  • I would love to get a chipping area specifically.  Putting is good too, but chipping would be first request.
