The Approach R50 is the output device requiring a direct connection. You would need an HDMI to USB-C or Lightning Port cable to the iPad. Then you would need to confirm if your iPad Settings are configured…
The "Approach R50" logo will display until a session for Practice or Home Tee Hero mode is started on the R50. Then enable the display setting to extend or mirror to the external display per the configuration…
I have the same issue, the screen shows Garmin R50 but does not show the actual Garmin screen being displayed on the R50?
I have the same issue, the projector image shows Garmin R50 but does not replicate the R50 display on the screen?

Mine does that until I actually start range session or HTH.
Yeah well if I'd read the manual you have to select external screen once in a session
The "Approach R50" logo will display until a session for Practice or Home Tee Hero mode is started on the R50. Then enable the display setting to extend or mirror to the external display per the configuration you are wanting.
I don’t get anything on the screen - no signal. I’ve tried the cable and projector with other sources and they work. They both support 1080p. What’s happening?
This doesn't seem to work with an iPad? I have an iPad on a tripod connected to to the R50 via an HDMI->USB-C cable and I get nothing on the iPad screen at all. I switch the R50 to external display but it says nothing is connected. Is this setup supported?
The Approach R50 is the output device requiring a direct connection. You would need an HDMI to USB-C or Lightning Port cable to the iPad. Then you would need to confirm if your iPad Settings are configured to display via cable connection.

All info in terms of connecting to an external display from the Approach R50 end is outlined on the Garmin Support page here
This doesn't work. I have the HDMI to USB-C cable but nothing registers. I have tried multiple iPads. Can you confirm that Garmin has tested this flow and that the screen from the R50 should mirror to the iPad during practice play?
The Approach R50 cannot be mirrored or cast wirelessly to an iPad. It must be connected via HDMI corded connection from the back of the R50 to the external display directly.
