I’m in the market for a R50, but want to understand better what the Bluetooth connection is for. Can I connect an iPad using the Awesome golf app. Can it be used to connect to an iPhone using the Garmin golf app?

Per the Bluetooth setting, the connection via Bluetooth is designed to connect to an external speaker for audio per the manual page linked here: Approach R50 - Settings

According to the manual the Bluetooth is for connecting to a speaker to play in game sounds.

The R50 is not designed to connect with other tablet devices via WiFi connection, but will connect to other devices on the same WiFi network via port connection for the supported 3rd party platforms. More information available in the Garmin Support links below:
