Trying to putt and chip on a prime putt 15 foot matt while waiting for my net to show up. I have the stickers on my putter and wedges. I'm getting an error that the R50 is "Unable to capture Club metrics" on every shot.

Putting metrics cannot be captured in Practice mode. Putting metrics are only supported when playing a virtual round (Home Tee Hero).
When you started the Practice mode, did you select 'Ball and Club Data' from the Tracking mode?
Yes, I have Ball and Club data turned on. My sense is that most 1/2 and 3/4 swings with a wedge are not captured. Full wedge swings are more likely to be captured, but are also sometimes missed. The capture is almost never missed with longer clubs (e.g., 7 iron) .
in the same situation as you, not all putts are captured and the club face metrics don't register (i get the same error) when using the putter.
i'm also getting a lot of 0 or <1m distances registered where the ball is obviously moving. the speed is registering but the distance is not. it does seem like stronger swings register better.
Sorry all, I should clarify that when putting in Home Tee Hero, we only show ball metrics. Club metrics with a putter are not supported in any way on Approach R50, and this includes putting a sticker on the putter (which does not do anything).
Fair enough that putting is not supported but neither is chipping. Or, as far as I could tell, less than full swing (like 65%) wedge shots. Big oversight.
We are currently working on improving wedge shot detection as well. This includes chip shots.
For such an expansive device this is extremely disappointing that wedge detection is so poor.
There can be several factors that contribute to successful wedge detection and it is not an oversight. The angle of the clubface, sticker being in the correct position, bright light reflecting off the clubface going back into the cameras, etc. We look forward to providing updates!
Sorry my comment was not specific enough. What I meant is that club metrics for chip shots doesn't work and is very disappointing. Full swing wedges are working fine (at least for me), and chip shots are not, under the exact same conditions. So it's not an issue with lighting, or sticker position. Really hoping this will get fixed with a firmware/software upgrade.
