R10 all clubs hit same (short) distance

My set up.

Garmin R10, latest software. Ive set the shaft length for my clubs. Weather is set for my location, altitude is set to my location etc.

I make sure its perfectly level & bottom of unit just above the top of the hitting surface. Ive tried setting it up 6', 7' & 8' behind me

I calibrate it each time its moved from one area to another.

Ive used RCT balls, top flite, Maxfly, Callaway etc.

Outside Ive have hit it into a net (about 10' away) as well as into the yard (I have 4 acres, have flags set for distances & hit from the same area).

Inside I have a 10'w, 10'deep 9'tall cage area.  I hit about 2' behind the cage (Distance to screen is 12'). No car, mower, etc on the other side of the garage, some tool chests & tool boxes that are on the other side of the duck cloth wall 20ish feet away.

My issue is that all my clubs hit about the same distance according to the R10. A long drive is maybe 150 yards. A 9 iron 145 yards, 7 wood, 150 yards etc.  My average drive is easily 200 yards but the R10 will read it well below that.

Sunday hitting inside my 3 iron average was 88 yards, 5 iron 85, 7 iron 90, 5 wood 43. I am not a great golfer, but I am 100% sure I can hit my 5 wood farther then 43 yards and that my 3 iron will go farther then my 7 iron.

I do get a lot of unread hits as well.  Its not uncommon to have 4 or 5 in a row with nothing registered.  I might hear "club head speed" (or whatever metric I am wanting to hear that day)

I just use the driving range function. I normally just have a little bit of time so often I just hit for 15 - maybe 30 minutes.

Currently my thoughts are to give up on the Garmin Golf app & pay to use Awsome, E6 or GSPro. Or to sell & try another brand.

I am at a loss as to how to get more accurate readings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have the very same issue as you have stated. I have the latest update, calibrated, level and all of my clubs register somewhere between a pitching wedge and a seven iron no matter what club I use. I cannot get it to work with E6 connect also. It just flashes in standby mode and Ihave tried connecting with the Garmin app and also logging in to E6 connect on another device. No luck! I’m thinking about selling it and cutting my losses. A friend of mine has the rapsodo and is working fine. It may be the better option.
