R10 Poor Bluetooth Connection to Computer

Hi all,

Tried to search around for people with similar issues, but I feel like I may be having an isolated issue.

Windows computer, struggling to connect or stay connected to my GS, I thought it was the distance from the computer but I have my home Audio system connected to it at the other end of the house. I also moved the computer to about 5 feet from the R10 and it did nothing.

So if the unit goes into sleep mode or the computer hibernates or I just shut the system down and go back to it, I’m due for probably 10-15 minutes of a sequence of restarting the computer, hard resetting the garmin, repeatedly shutting down and restarting GSPRO to finally get it to connect. If I go into sleep mode half way through a round I have to restart and do this 10-15 minutes of restart sequence. It becomes really frustrating and has turned me off playing.

There has been times when it would only stay connected for 10 minutes and then go back to flashing blue - I turned off everything else Bluetooth in the house and it didn’t do anything unfortunately.

I don’t think I have this issue if I use my phone but my phone doesn’t work for GSPRO and the screen resolution doesn’t work on the projector.

I believe this is an issue with my computer, if I go to Bluetooth connection options it always shows the Garmin as “paired” and shows the battery life but the battery life is never updated meaning it’s not actually connected. After the sequence of restarts and finally getting the r10 back connected to GSPro the battery life updates.

Can anyone offer me some help? I think I’ve exhausted almost all options but I’m not too techy.

  • Okay so after extensive research and trying just about everything - the problem is WINDOWS 10 (not being able to switch to advanced bluetooth)

The fix was to buy a 15$ bluetooth dongle off of AMAZON. The bluetooth 4.0 adapter did not work - the multiple device Bluetooth 5.3 device worked flawlessly. I bought a TP-Link Bluetooth 5.3

    Hope this helps
