Distances are way off

My distances seem way off. I measure 7’ behind the ball, the device is level and above the mat. I typically hit my 9 iron 160-170 and it’s tell me my shots are 130-140. What could be wrong? I use it outdoors and today went to range. My shots were going 20-30 yards further than the R10 was reading.

  • Ensure that the distance from the shot location where you are hitting the ball from to the net or boundary stopping the ball is at least 8ft or longer.

The steps outlined on the Garmin Support pages linked below should be considered in determining what else may be causing the concern:

Note: After confirming there are not any environmental factors, or spacing factors that can interfere with radar capture, I recommend contacting Garmin Support to discuss the concern further with a Golf Specialist.

Note: If you are hitting in a confined space, indoor swing syndrome could also be the culprit, as hitting indoors in a confined space can result shot performance decreasing due vs hitting on outdoor range or on a course.
