R10 permanent red LED. Connection to the app okay but no function possible

I tried my first R10 driving range session today but unfortunately I had permanent problems. Maybe one of you has already had this and can give me some advice on what I can do differently. After setting up and starting the golf app with a range session, the LED flashed green and I took my first three shots with a PW to test. All three shots were recorded and the data made sense. After looking at them in the app on the data detail page, I actually wanted to start the session. Unfortunately, the R10 now only showed a permanently red LED. Switching it on and off didn't help. It kept returning to the same state. I tried it several times and also in other locations (outdoors, in a box without a mirror, in one with a mirror, outdoors with a mat and without a mat). Unfortunately, no success. All attempts with re-pairing, restarting the app etc. were unsuccessful.

The user manual states that the device is overloaded if the LED is permanently red. What does Garmin mean by this? What other options do I have?

R10: SW 3.3
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Android 15 - build AP$A.241205.013

  • If the LED is solid red, that status is "busy". Check the Golf app to confirm if there are any alerts showing on the screen.

Then exit out of the session and go to the Profile tab from the opening screen in the Garmin Golf app > Then select "My Devices" > Select the Approach R10 > Calibrate the R10 on a level surface.

Ensure the magnetic mount is securely attached to the tripod base.

Ensure there are not any environmental factors affecting the radar per the suggestions outlined on the Garmin Support pages linked below:

If you continue to have concerns with the LED indicator staying solid red, please contact Garmin Support so they can discuss the concern with you to offer further solutions.
