R10 - Considering purchase however concerned with poor unit performance when hitting into a net.

Considering purchasing, however my application is hitting into a net (Net Return Home Series V2) and reviews in this forum and others are reporting that this unit does not function well at all with respect to distance accuracy, spin rate and other measurements. Is anyone
knowledgable of any improvements or fixes with this unit with respect to this issue? My set-up is in a garage with the specified distances; unit placed a minimum of 6' behind the ball with a minimum distance of 8' from the ball to the hitting surface (net).

    When using the Approach R10 in an indoor environment, especially in a garage where there tends to be more environmental factors that can affect the radar capture, there are a few setup, and factors to be aware to ensure the device is setup to record shots accurately. 

    Reflective surfaces, heat sources, florescent lights, sources of electromagnetic radiation like refrigerators being around in the direction or next the R10 can result in interference to the radar. 

    The spacing of the unit, and making sure to keep the R10 in a straight line 7ft back behind the shot location, in line with the target location...which needs to be at least 8ft or longer from the shot location to ensure the radar can capture enough ball flight to accurately give you metrics for your shot distance, ball speed, club head speed, launch angle, and spin being the radar derived metrics essential for the other metrics to calculate correctly.

    I appreciate your reply Cody, but I must say that the lack of (any) response from the Garmin Nation on this subject in my post, coupled with the pre-existing contributions on this subject matter on this forum and other resources, tells me that hitting into a net with the technology provided by the R10 is far from an optimal scenario.  I will be considering other launch monitor options for my personal garage set-up application.

    Why would You hit into a net in the garage? Way better to use an impact screen and a projector. A bit more expensive maybe, but waaaaay more fun.

    Perhaps because I don't want to pepper my garage wall with ball indentions (???).  Not many, including myself, would argue that hitting into an impact screen with projector visuals is an optimal set-up, but having a net is a logical and most economical first step.

    Depends.

    I believe that most that starts with net end up with projector / screen, and then net is not most economical.

    In any case, the R10 unit should not perform worse using a net, but unsure.

    And also I would today consider other launch monitors, depending on what Your intentions are. R10 is not good on side spin, so if You intend to use the set up to "serious" use, a camera based solution should be considered.

    If You intend to have fun, the R10, impact screen, used projector/gaming PC and gs pro subscription should be possible to realize around usd 2k.
