Failure to sync and calibrate

Just got my new R10. I can pair it to my Garmin golf app, do range sessions, play home tee hero - it registers shots no problem and with accuracy. My issue is that upon connecting the first time, the R10 will not sync within the Garmin app indefinitely. An error is shown that it can’t connect with the Garmin servers no matter how many times I retry. This seems to also mean that when I try to start calibration, that can’t be done either - the app claims the R10 needs to be powered on and connected even though it is.

I have a Garmin S40 watch and have never had issues syncing before. I’m using an iPhone running iOS 17, Garmin golf app version 2.15.1.1. The best part is I can get it working without any issues on an Android device after borrowing a friend’s - I don’t own one.

I’ve tried:

  • removing the device, repairing, deleting the app and starting over, restarting the phone
  • charged to full battery and repeated
  • tried using two other iPhones, including one running iOS 16 and garmin golf app 2.10. Same issues
  • connected the R10 to my windows PC. Opened Garmin Express. It recognized the R10, but claimed Express doesn’t support the R10. I thought that was a bit weird
  • Talked to a garmin support rep on the phone. They confirmed I’m running the latest software. Everything looked good on their end. They suggested I exchange the unit for a new one, so I did
  • new R10, same issue
  • tried using a friends account signed into the garmin golf app. Same problem. Not an account issue

Someone please help me lol
