Spin rates on wedges inaccurate all of the sudden

I have been using the Approach R10 for almost a month now all with outdoor range use. When practicing with my wedges half swings to full swing (60yds - 120yds) I was getting what I would assume accurate spin rates 7,000 - 11,000 RPM but suddenly my wedges are registering either 999 or 1,000 RPM which is not even close to being accurate. I have no idea what changed but this is happening every range session now.

Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix? It makes the R10 not very useful when trying to dial in wedge play if spin rates are no where near accurate.

  • Try adjusting a little more space between the shot location to the target location to allow more shot capture time to see if that helps.

You can also take the R10 to an outdoor range, and see if your spin concerns are continuing to occur. If no issues, it is likely a factor within the indoor setup that may be causing the concern environmentally.

If you continue having concerns, it is recommended to reach out to Garmin Support to discuss the issue live so our golf specialists can get more info from you to help further determine what could be potentially causing your specific concern.

  • Thanks Cody. I only use my R10 out doors on the driving range or in my backyard ( I live on 30 acres) and hit shots anywhere from 60 yds to 120 yds with my lob - sand wedge. I have been setting the R10 7 ft behind the ball and I have nothing but open sky in the direction I am hitting.

I will reach out to Garmin support for more assistance.
