R10 causes crash of Garmin Golf app

I have bought a Approach R10. The Garmin Golf App does not work with it on my Android phone. When I use the R10 it crashes the app. The Golf App otherwise works without problems. I tried anything, re-install etc. What else can I do?

  • Update as of August 30, 2023:

Garmin Golf app version 2.14 now available for both AndroidOS & iOS.

Check the App Store/Play Store to ensure the update is installed.

This should help to resolve concern mentioned in this post. If anyone continues to have this concern after verifying version 2.14 is installed for the Garmin Golf app, please direct message me so I can gather more information from you.

  • Same here. Was workibg properly {late 2022) until a terrible update. Did any of the tips from support help. Tried all the usual (cache, reinstall, etc) but no luck. Right now my r10 is more or less unusable. Thats a shame

  • I will be reaching out through direct message to get some additional information from you on your concern.

  • Same problem with 2.18. I bought the R10 recently. Tried to use it with Garmin Golf version 2.18.1 (Unity 2.18.1.1) on my Samsung Galaxy S10e. Seems ok at first, but response time is awfull, goes up to more than 30 seconds sometimes, apps gets frozen, sometimes video cant be read. After a shot if I get the data (can be one second, can be one minute as said), it is very very slow to navigate in the menu. What am I missing ?

Has this to do with data connection ? I don't have a wifi connection close to the practice, and gsm signal is week.

Please help me, presently this device is not usable !

  • If cellular signal is not adequate at the location during sim sessions, and no WiFi signal is available...the Garmin Golf app may encounter issues working properly in accessing services through your smartphone that allow information to display correctly...along with server access to allow normal operation within the app.

The only suggestion I can recommend is to check and see if any spots within that location offer better signal availability for signal to setup the R10 in that spot vs other areas of that location.

Also setup and see if the concern is occurring at another location with better reception or WiFi connection and if the issue is not occurring...then it can be isolated as likely to the poor reception for that location.

  • Thanks for the reply. But I have checked the application with an iPhone at the same location and it works perfectly well and quickly. Also I have seen a lot of messages indicating trouble with R10 when using Android is still without solution. So the question is : how come you sell a product said to be Android compatible  that cannot work properly ? When will you provide a fix ?

  • If the Garmin Golf app is freezing up or slow to respond, then you would need to make sure that there is sufficient hardware storage showing currently available on the phone to ensure that low storage is not affecting phone performance.

Along with storage space, you should also check and make sure that there are not a ton of applications all running at once in the background to allow the Garmin Golf app to work properly so the phone processor is not bogged down with a bunch of background operations.

Please also contact Garmin Support to discuss the concern for more active context, detail, and troubleshooting to be performed to better isolate the cause of the concern you are experiencing on the Android phone vs working fine on other phones.
