R10 Works in driving range but not a game of golf

My R10 will connect and work just fine in any of the driving range modes (in the garmin golf app), but as soon as I go to play 9/18 holes it starts blinking white and gives me a 2D overhead view of the golf course. If I manually wake the R10 up, it will blink green and track my shot, but nothing will happen in the app. I’m on the newest software and app version. Please someone help me with this because it was working fine last week and now I can’t use it for its intended purpose. Thanks.

  • I recommend checking the App Store (if using iPhone) or the Play Store (if using Android) > Search Garmin Golf > See if the download page is showing an update is available and install if offered. 

    In the Garmin Golf app, open the main menu > Select the "Settings" option from the list > Scroll down and reference the version in the "App Info" section and confirm that the version is showing 2.18 (iOS) or 2.18.1 (AndroidOS) as those are the two most current versions available at the time of my comment here. 

    Are you using the Approach R10 through a smartphone, or through an iPad? Tablets are not compatible for use with the Garmin Golf app, so ensure a smartphone is being used that meets the compatibility requirements outlined on the Garmin Support page here: Garmin Golf App Minimum Device Software Requirements

    Also check and confirm if the concern is happening on multiple courses...or if the issue is occurring on specific courses after confirming the Garmin Golf app is up to date.
