R10 Approach will not provide data despite the green light

I power it on and check in the Garmin Golf app that the device is synced. I've callibrared it, removed it from my devices and re added it. I've cleared it from Bluetooth devices and re-paired it. Every time it says it's in standby mode.. I press the button to "wake up" - nothing. Literally about to throw it off a cliff. Why is it so freakin hard to just turn on and go?????

  • FYI, the uninstall and reinstall got things working again, but it did loose connection 2 times over a one hour period.

ALSO, the new version looses the ability to drag the slider in the video shot review. WTF Garmin? This is in addition to all my old videos being lost.

Before this latest update I never lost connection once during a session. What DID they fix? Well now each club does not show up twice in the club selection. I wish I could revert to the old verision.

  • Just tried downgrading to 2.12.1 via apkmirror, based on the suggestions in this forum. Fingers crossed.

At least the forum has their act together.

  • With this version everything is good ?

  • Edit: Correction! Yes. I tried again today with 2.12.1 and everything appears to be working.

Actually no! It would not read any shots. I'm wondering if the firmware I have in the device is not compatible with 2.12.1. I'd love to know how to check or downgrade the firmware or even factory reset it, but I haven't figured that out yet.  I ended up reinstalling the latest version, 2.12.3 and it started working again.

I guess I'll just have to deal with the fact that I can't scroll/step through the video frames any longer.

  • There is a real problem of stability because I read the shots on my phone, but it is not possbile on my wife's phone. So if she wants to go to the practice and use R10, I must come with her to track the shots on my phone.

I hope that garmin will analyze in details the problem and find a reliable solution

  • That would not be advisable, going back to a previous version being offered by an unauthorized site offering the download.

I will be reaching out to you directly regarding the issue you mentioned in your previous reply on the thread to get some additional info on the disconnect issue you mentioned.

  • I started having a problem today using the IOS 12.2.1 version.  On the range the shot path is shown, but the stats are all dashes. It was working fine yesterday with the same IOS version.  Is this the same problem or is it different?  I have turned off R10 & turned it back on & re-calibrated. I also deleted the Garmin Golf app,  reinstalled it, signed into Garmin, & reconnected the R10.  I'm still getting the same results. I see the shot path, but all stats are dashes. BTW, I do see the shot data when I use the E6 range.

  • If you are seeing version 12.1.1 as the software currently installed on your iPhone for the Garmin Golf app, you would need to get the app updated.

Simply open the App Store and search "Garmin Golf" to see if the app page in the store is showing "Open" or "Update" next to Garmin Golf in the list. If showing "Update" then select to install the most current version.

If you are seeing the "Open" option, try uninstalling Garmin Golf, and then reinstall. Also be sure to make sure your iOS is up to date for the most current version available for your iPhone model to ensure the latest version of the Garmin Golf app is made available to your phone.

  • I think this problem should not appear because the R10 is 2 years old. If you want to challenge other similar products, be sure that the management software "garmin golf" is able to do the job.
Before buying the product, I went on this forum to make my opinion on the fiability of R10. And as it was for the garmin S60, unfortunaly you must work to improve the fiability of the R10.

  • I transposed the version numbers.  The Apple store shows 2.12.1 as the latest version (that's what I based my previous message on). I had reinstalled the app this morning (after I noticed the problem & there was no indication a new version was available - at the time this re-install did not correct the problem - I had installed the latest version a couple of days ago when I noticed an update was available in the Apple store & used the Garmin range with no issues until this AM).  I looked at the Garmin app settings just now & it shows the version is 2.12.1.1 (what I re-installed earlier this Am.   I went back & re-opened the Garmin range (using the same version I installed earlier this AM) & now it's working fine, showing the shot stats.  I don't understand what happened this AM.  It is frustrating that I had to spent time working on this.
