Why so long to roll up updates to fix minor issues.

Why does it takes so long to update to fix simple issues or other concern of the users? It's disappointing that minor issue like simple request and issue with the user interface that are very easy to fix would months and most of the time doesn't get fix at all. Wonder if you guys at Garmin even read the feedback from users.

  • Hello! Garmin values customer feedback immensely, and we indeed read your feedback.

Since the release of the Approach R10, we have implemented many new additions to the features offered, most of them being from the feedback of our users. Along with the price value we offer, many of the features available currently to R10 users were not advertised when we released the R10, and have been added through software updates,

We also actively work to resolve issues when they arise, and sometimes the timeframe of the fix for concerns will vary depending on the time it takes to interpret the feedback being explained from our customers, figuring out the cause the issue, and then implementing the fix.

Regarding this post, it would help on my end if you gave some detail on what specific minor issues you are referring to...but if the topic is simply regarding timeframe in-between updates, and whether Garmin reads feedback...the response above hopefully should provide some insight for you.

We know that You and others reads the forum, but what happens then?

How are the suggestions and comments forwarded to the ones developing the SW?

And even more important, how is the feedback to the users regarding what will be implemented? (This was ironic btw).

As an example You can take the feedback from users about a change made on driving range. Before Yo could swipe between pages, now You cant. This was not a requested feature, and I'm pretty sure 99,9% of the users hate it, but what will happen?

If You are in Your simulator, doing a range session, which of the 2 images below would You prefer?

A fix like this would in my opinion make the GUI on driving rang 100 times better, and could also be implemented on HTH making that more useful as a fun training tool as well.

I guess the main point is that in a Year from now we are not interested in an answer that this is still being evaluated and interest gauged. Much better with a yes or no, and for more info on the main screen I would expect a yes.

  • Here are some of my suggestions. I have provided some of them previously on the Garmin Share Ideas page, but have never been contacted. I've been using the ISO app lately.

    1) Custom weather conditions are not saved for the range or HTH.  Must reset every time I start a new session.

    2) Same for the Ball to R10 distance. Reverts to 7' at the start of a session.  In the Android app, I remember that this value was saved.

    3)  Save custom shot data (the 3 values that are displayed - BTW, I'd like to be able to see more shot data displayed on the range & HTH) on range session. Reverts back to default values at start of a session OR if I delete all individual shots in a session.

    4) I cannot recalibrate the R10 while I'm in a range session or on HTH. I must end the session, get to the Garmin Devices option to recalibrate, & start a new session.  I am allowed to change the weather settings & ball to R10 distance while I'm in a session.

    5) Allow me select clubs on the range & in HTH where an average value can be kept & displayed by each club in My Bag (carry distance, total distance etc.)

    6) In HTH, a) allow me to pick the holes to play; b) allow me to save a round to continue later; c) allow me to start on the back nine.

    7) I understand there was once an option to swipe side to side to display the shot data fields on the range.
The current process going from the range, to the menu, to the data fields, & back is too cumbersome.

    8) When using the video option, in order for me to see a video of my last shot on the range, I have to tap on the number of session shots and then wade thru however many shots I made until I get to the last shot & then tap it to see my video.
There has to be a better way to do this.

There are many more bugs & feature requests from other users throughout this forum that I have read

  • Hi,

Garmin G80 can read swingspeed without impact while the R10 which has far superior hardware can’t.
People doing overspeed training are switching to competitors or buying an extra radar just to do this.

  • Personally I love the second image you posted, it would save me time flicking constantly to read the stats etc, and I would like it if you hit a shot and the shot tracer doesn’t disappear from view if in landscape mode.

  • It's the same thing I said a few months ago.  they don't care.

  • My major concerns are the same as almost everybody. Bring back the swipe to switch pages, show more data on the screen.

Everybody has been complaining about you guys changing the swipe to switch pages since 4.3 came out yet nothing has been done about it. Wonder why you guys even changed it in the first place. Is it that hard to roll out a very minor update to resolve this issue?

  • After the addition of the new driving range options in the Garmin Golf app, you can now swipe left/right to move/change your target line. This change was necessary as it would have conflicted with swiping left/right on the metrics and swing capture screens. Moving forward you can use the menu button and then tap the specific option you are looking for.

I am compiling a list of our R10 customers who would prefer the option to swipe to view the data added back, after the changes we have made from the update that made the improvements to panning the view of the target line.

I will direct message for more info, thanks!

It's good that there may be some movement improving this.

But again, I think the real problem is not addressed.

If I actually stand on the mat and hit a shot, I want to see on the screen what happened.

Now I can see 3 metrics, the remaing are hidden i several pages.

I don't want to go to the mobile, click or swipe or whatever, I want to see on the screen the parameters I'm interested in.

And then take a new shot and compare while I still remember.

On my projector I have 200 inches of green, and 20 inches of actual interesting data. It should be the other way around.

No need to swipe, no need to access several pages, just hit and get the info.

  • I just want to clarify for others viewing this thread on the forums, the Golf app no longer having the swipe function to view metrics is not currently a bug, glitch, or issue...and the change is by design, due to other user experience improvements made to the Garmin Golf app, resulting in a change to how to info is viewed.

There is currently not an issue viewing metrics during sim sessions. The metrics are available for reference, it is just accessed through a different menu within the session.

Garmin is not saying no to the possibility of the previous format being introduced back into range sessions, and our team is paying attention to our users wanting the info displayed how it used to be...it is possible we may offer a similar option to swipe the metrics in the future.

It is also possible that the Garmin Golf app may not offer the previous option, or may offer another design change for viewing metrics may be implemented, that users ,may enjoy even more than the previous way it was offered.

Also Odd, I have added your Garmin account to the report we are submitting for our users expressing that they preferred the previous layout prior to the changes made to the target line.

Forums users can reference the topic in the discussion thread Feature Request: Driving Range Swipe post update .
