HTH landscape mode seems zoomed.

HTH landscape mode seems zoomed. I am new user and yes all updates are current as of today.  I have included landscape mode and regular mode pictures below

  • Updated February 21, 2023:

The landscape view when using Home Tee Hero features with the Approach R10, there a few different viewing options we offer. The first person view in Home Tee Hero using the landscape orientation offers a first person view, and an overhead view, along with the same options for the portrait orientation as well.

Depending on the smartphone model, size of the display on the phone, and the method of extending the display through mirror or casting features, the display may appear differently from setup to setup for our users.

In both landscape and portrait orientation full scale view of the hole allow the option to aim a target distance to a location from the tee shot, simply toggle "overhead camera view" button on the lower right showing the flag to adjust the target for your shot. Please continue to let us know your thoughts on the experience using the Garmin Golf features, as we are continuing to look into ways of improving the experience of using landscape view.

  • Cody. Thanks. I guess I see older videos (note they are using a projector) not sure if that makes a difference. But portrait mode and landscape mode look the same. See pic of said video I captured from 7 months ago

  • My personal opinion is it should look exactly like portrait mode

  • Hi Garmin-Cody

Pls be aware that there is something wrong also on overhead camera view.

In landscape mode it's also very zoomed, and the distance markers to marker and hole moves strangely when "scrolling".

In portrait mode the distance markers are completely vanished, only parts can be seen sometimes outside the screen.

i wish that someone could connect the app to a projector, or at least open it on a phone and have a look before releasing.

  • I agree,  Heck send me a projector and i will do the Projector test along with Screen mirroring to apple tv test for you.

Issue i have is i waited until last Friday when the app was updated to start my 30 day trial and now I get to waste that 30 days until it gets fixed again.  Hope it gets fixed in the next couple of weeks

  • Odd Tore, currently looking into the issue with the overhead view in portrait mode on our end. If you happen to see others in threads mentioning the distances not appearing in portrait mode, please refer to  https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/golf/f/approach-r10/323881/home-tee-hero-is-not-showing-distance-in-vertical-mode

  • Hi Garmin-Cody

I read most of the posts here, but actually assumed You and the developers also did?

Anyway, based on what I have read in different posts, I have concluded on the following:

    - One user complained about the numbers in the release were small, and difficult to read.

    - Several others, including myself, finds the view in landscape mode zoomed, and the distance markers jumps around meaningless.

    - In portrait mode with hole from top the distance markers are not showing/ outside the screen.

I don't know how You test this, but my conclusion is that the issue is related to screen resolution.

It appears to be optimized for one resolution only. If You have higher resolution, You get a good overview, but numbers are basically unreadable.

If You have an older phone, like I do, the resolution is less, and You only see parts of the intended image.

I belive this should be possible to detect before releasing the app, and at least it should be easy to replicate by the developers without everyone explaining in detail the issues.

At least it didn't take me more than 5 sec when opening 2.11.1 that it looked strange.

  • We are currently looking into feedback with the zoomed view in landscape mode (non-overhead view), and I have added your account to the experience case we are looking into regarding the way it looks after the recent Garmin Golf app 2.11.1 for iOS, and 2.11.2 for Android (release Feb 2023).

The workaround currently available for landscape mode view now appearing more zoomed, is to view the overhead view of the hole in landscape mode to adjust and target your shot for a more details view of the hole. Then switch as you please from the first person view, and overhead as desired.

As we have more information available to provide, we will update the thread as the info becomes available.

Everyone dissatisfied with the changes to the first person view, please comment to this thread, and we will forward your feedback to our team looking further into the experience feedback.

  • Not so easy to use overhead to set distances.

I still can't understand why this is difficult to see?

Or is it only on my phone?

Edited comment to avoid users confusing the topic on this post, with post link in my comment below.

  • The first two images in your most recent reply are associated with distances not showing for the overhead view in portrait mode. Please post in this thread, regarding that issue: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/golf/f/approach-r10/323881/home-tee-hero-is-not-showing-distance-in-vertical-mode

This post is referring to the zoomed in look of the landscape view in home tee hero, when the overhead option is not selected. This post is a separate topic, not related to distance missing when viewing portrait mode with the overhead view enabled. This was mentioned in my previous reply earlier in the thread.
