Oops Garmin..

Well, I think Garmin has a limited time for listening to their customers.

Think it's time to step up tbh.

First comparisment I've seen. There will be a lot more I guess

  • David Maxfield out with his first comparisment between R10 and MLM2:

    https://youtu.be/MQSoRjkLs7I

    My initial first thoughts:

    - MLM2 appears more accurate on spin, especially spin axix, when using the RPT ball. Spin axis, and hence shot shape, has been a major issue with R10 indoors. RCT may improve it, but Maxfield hits normally better than most amateurs, so not easy to tell. Indoor I will say 1-0 to Rapsodo.

    - MLM2 appears not to be accurate when not using RPT balls. Potentially a major issue if You wish to bring the unit to a driving range. Have to wait for outdoor test for this, but to me it seems I would rather bring the R10 unit to a driving range. So I will for now give one point to R10 for outdoor / normal ball use. 1-1

    - MLM2 missed some shots. This has also been complaints about the R10 on this, but I personally have not seen this issue. Too early to tell, but worth noticing and something to have in mind as more tests arrive.

    - Still nothing about export functionality in MLM2. Since I don't know if this exists, I cannot give a point yet to R10, but I for sure will if it's not. You should be able to export MLM2 data from AwesomexGolf, but this requires purchase of it. At least Garmin now has export functionallity within the Garmin Golf app.

    - MLM2 gives data also when playing sim. Plus for MLM2, but without export possibility it soon gets forgotten. So not worth a point yet.

    - Sim graphics appears to be better on MLM2. Garmin more courses. Both sim graphics are still rather poor, so I have not given it a point for any. Garmin should fix their landscape view in order to even it more out.

    - Both units have integration to Awesome Golf and E6. R10 has in addition TGC2019. More important is that R10 has working integration to GSPro, although unsupported by Garmin. I expect that it won't be long before also MLM2 also has some integration, either officially or unofficially, but advantage to R10 for now.

    - MLM2 has in built cameras and wifi connection. Plus to MLM2, but no points given until I see some tests showing the usability.

    Summarize:

MLM2 appears more accurate indoors, so may be the preferred unit in home simulators.

However, there are some concerns for now, like the need for using RPT balls, less accurate than R10 without, no export of sessions?, and no integration to GSPro? Missed shots ratio?

So I'm not getting rid of my R10 just yet, and still a long time to decide if my brother will love his Christmas present this year.
