Can using plastic tees effect readings?

I am now using some plastic "birdie tee" like tees I got on Amazon for my indoor space but also recently got a stand for my R10. I am trying to figure out what might be causing the drastic change in my the readings of my woods with tees? Can tees effect reading and/or possibly the very slight change in height of the unit effect it?

Absolutely nothing has changed with my set up and my iron numbers continue to be perfect and 3w and hybrid without tee still shows as I expect. It is constant that the club speed and ball speed now reads far lower. Club speed ~ 10mph less and ball speeds ~15-20mph less. It does not matter the system of Garmin Golf or e6 Connect. Calibrating does not change anything. Anyone else seen this or know the fix?

  • Does it take up too much space in the room? I still want space for smash karts. Can you recommend a few other products to me?

  • Using tees that are plastic, wood, rubber, etc. will not affect the radar readings. Metal reflective tees could affect the reading, but have not seen those around, so that should not be a factor for most users.

I would recommend using tees you are comfortable with, or tees you would normally use when playing at a course, or at the range.

Depending on how high you are teeing up the ball, tee size, swing tendencies...you may need more space from the shot location, to the target location you are hitting the ball into. Longer clubs like woods for many users may reflect a lower ball flight initially. When hitting indoors, factors like spacing and amount of shot capture the R10 is allowed, may affect those your shot metrics. So you may need to experiment with some spacing adjustments to see if that helps.
