Inaccurate R10 is way off

I am so confused with this thing. Nothing seems to be adding up. Another session with 8i and 7i. My swing speeds are pretty much identical for both clubs. R10 Shruging my 8i going 123yds 7i going 135yds. Swing speeds are 75 78. On the course I hit my 8i 140, 7i 150. I've tried different distances from ball to net and ballShrug R10. Everything just seems to be off. I also calibrated it last night. Shrug♂️ Any ideas? Seems I've tried it all.

  • Many threads on this.

With Your swing speed I assume You will have a rather low ball flight?

The R10 is not particular good on this, and is why also woods are showing less distance than expected. The solution here has been to alter the altitude in the settingd, thus giving lower air resistance and increased distances.

When it comes to comparing shots into net with on course, this can be tricky. On course it's not easy to determine carry distance, and if You play on a links course with hard fairway, the roll can be considerable higher than the sw gives You.

Another try some has good experience with is to tilt the unit forward and then calibrate. The shot elevation should then be higher, and lead to increased distance. I would however compare shot elevation with on range or on course elevation though, in order to make practise as realistic as possible. If I look at a typical shot with my 7 iron, i have a swing speed of 78, launch angle 16 deg (-4 attack angle), carry 125 m (approx 138 yds).

My 8 iron is usually quite similar with higher launch angle (21 deg), approx same swing speed and carry, but less total distance due to reduced roll. These are on range measurements and very similar to what I see on course.

  • My 8i launch is around 21° so that is basically normal 8i launch. On the course on pretty much any giving day the wind is not bad I carry my 8i 135ish. This R10 barely shows my carry at 120-125 just nowhere close to being accurate.

  • This is a bit baffling. Try to look for sources of interference such as concrete floor or metal garage door. You could also have a look at the spin--don't know if this would cause a shorter carry. But you can try metal tape or RCT ball to get a better backspin reading.

  • Spin for my 8i on R10 is in the high 4000s that is way low. Not sure why it's reading so low but that could be causing my Carries to be short
