4.4 update coming? Shot shape improvement?

Curious if any update on 4.4 coming and if shot shape is an area of focus? I still have had next to no issues or complaints with my unit with distance, readings, detection, etc... Have had my R10 since Sep of 2021 so have seen the evolution of updates and the one thing that seems to have regressed is the shot shape. Fades and draws all essentially showing as a straight ball or just a slight push or pull. Fades seem to respond closer to accurate than draws but shots with draws seem to now just show as straight balls. Not sure if others having same issue, but just curious.

  • I have had that problem since 4.3 fade is draw and draw is fade and alsort of misses  face to path can show 15 degree right and it show as draw, and its like 90% of the time. So i have been waiting for and firmware update, just to reinstall if something went wrong in the installation, kind of sucks, i want to hit into a net now when its winter thats why i bought it. But since its random what shotshape it shows.....and the other problem is that it misses the clubhead speed and smashfactor, the smash is way low and way high very often, like 0.9 smash and 160 clubhead speed, and next shot its like 1.6 smash and 90 clubhead speed, and before the patch it was very good atleast on smash and clubhead speed

  • I have not had any of the latter issues you mentioned above. Mine has been exceptional to be honest since I have had it and I have been incredibly impressed. I had even hit with mine against a trackman a while back and it was virtually identical in the readings which was so great to see. Shot shape has become my only issue... Are you predominatly seeing this indoors? Do you have turf or carpet or something from R10 to mat? I have a friend who has having similar issues with R10 on cement looking to mat and once he put turf down the readings immediately improved.

  • Mine was exceptional before the 4.3. It showed consistent result with a professional flightscop, ive said it like 100 times but you should be able to reinstall firmware or change to older firmware. My computer was lagging wile it made the update so i think something went wrong in the installing. So now im waiting for an update over 2 month, i could have reinstalled the firmware and could have used it after 30sec. Should i need to send it back get refund and buy a new one? Seems not like the most smooth thing

  • I am amazed, i did use a iphone13 and it worked amazing, so all the time it was good and only the phone i used did not work together with the r10, i used a xiaomi mi 10 ultra, xiaomi mi10, iphone se, and all phone showed crappy result and they did not show exacly same result, then i used a iphone 13 and it showed correctly face to path all the time, and i got some missread, but totaly okay, you get missread from all this kind of unit. Very happy again with the unit, but garmin should almost have a list with working units, its abit strange that its not very compatible

  • What?

Are You seeing different results based on phone type?

I could understand if there was a difference between Android and IOS as they are using different apps, but still I would think that the algos are same??

But for same app showing different results on different phones I find hard to believe.

    Same version of app?

  • I know its strange, but if you did not use iphone then use that or ipad, garmin will probably have good compability with different iphones than different android, i cant understand either, i thought everything was in the unit and its just sent to the phone. But i guess its not easy lile that

    • No, the R10 unit just measures some parameters (club speed, ball speed, launch angle and aoa. And to some extent spin on range or if Youre using rct balls).

Rest is calculated in the app.

So if You use the same release version of the app I would assume the results should be same regardless of phone type and operating system.

Which is why I find this strange.

  • I agree with you, but thats not the case. It will behave different depend on phone even with the same version of the app. Atleast from what i have seen, for example spin numpers and such and that will affect distance considerably if the numbers is way of

  • What is not the case?

The R10 measures what it measures, and unless You are a perfect robot 2 shots will not be the same.

And measure one shot with 2 phones simultaniously is not possible as the unit can only be connected to one phone at time.

  • If i stand on a range and i see the ballflight and then look at my phone and se the result garmin gives then i can see how it performs, and when it performs good its about the same i see when i go to a trackman, im not a robot but i know how i do on trackman and compare, and when the unit work as it should do, it will do a very good job
