I was having a similar problem, but either it was fixed in the 4.3 update, or, I have read that it's the Garmin's way of telling you it's not level. After calibrating and leveling, the narcolepsy is cured.

Yes plase add this feature. Updates 2.8 and 4.3 have mitigated the problem but it's still happening.

On driving range yesterday, the unit went to sleep twice (60 balls).
Better than before the 4.3 release, but why should it go to sleep at all?
Seems like the issue started when someone entered neighbor bay, and possibly the unit got confused when detecting 2 swings, but this may also have been a coincidence.
Has there been any progress on this? My R10 will go to sleep mode when my garage heater turns on which is fine however sometimes it doesn't successfully come out of sleep and I need to quit my round and reconnect. Very frustrating.
The sleep function on the R10 is designed to help preserve battery so the R10 can be used longer during sim sessions, so if there is any period of time where the device
The heat source being around the radar signal, especially in an indoor setup can affect the R10 environmentally. It is recommended to remove any heat sources, fans, or electromagnetic signals near or within the radar signal direction where the R10 is positioned.
The other reason the wake prompt may appear, is if the Approach R10 is moved, bumped, or if the unit is not on a level surface.
