4.20 "broke" my system

My R10 was working fine and then I updated to 4.20 and the latest Garmin app.  I no longer get any shot data sent to the app.  The indicator light sequencing seems to be operating properly.  Also I am not able to get the unit to calibrate.  When attempting to calibrate I get a message that says the unit is not connected to my phone (the app says the two are connected).

I have been on the phone with technical support two times and walked through a long list of trouble shooting but nothing work.  I don't know if this happens to be an issue with my unit (it is 3 weeks old) or an issue with the updates.  If anyone have information that would be great since I am debating returning the unit.

  • I’ve seen this before.

Reboot your phone or tablet then try again.

  • Since updating to 4.10 my unit doesn’t capture Attack Angle, Club Face, Club Path or Club Speed data anymore.  I didn’t have this issue before.  Anyone else seeing this, or any other suggestions on how to to fix it  - it captures other data.

  • The front LED is blinking green.  When I swing the club it turns red and then returns to blinking green after the shot.  Based on my conversation with support the sequencing of the LED is showing the unit is properly operating.

Today I took the unit back since after 8 hours and multiple calls with support and the forum no one could figure out how to get the unit working again (it broke with 4.20).

    Thanks for the suggestions

  • Today experienced the same issue the R10 is not registering any data (noting is showing up at the App).
After the update to ver 4.20 the R10 it was still working (last session 31-Jul-2022).
Unfortunately today after connecting it to an Ipad (the first device is an Android) in order to use the E6 software no data is showing up anymore.
The first idea was that the E6 was not working correctly but also using my Android phone no data was showing up.

Tried several different solutions from disabling Bluetooth on the devices (and only activating it on the one used for testing), removing and reinstalling the App (on Android) and trying to reset the device for manual pairing but nothing works.
In this it looks like the reset is not working (yes, Iǘe read the instructions) and the device it keeps the old connection.

After restating the R10 and starting the Garmin App the R10 is recognized automatically (green light start flashing).
Withing the Garmin App I can see the device, calibrate it and see the battery status.
While swinging the club and hitting the ball the light is responding as normal (blinking green of showing the red light depending on the situation) but no data is showing up in the app.

For me this was the first time I was pairing it to an Ipad (don know it it has anything to do with that).
Paired in the past to two Android devices without any problem (previous firmware version) but now I'm facing this issue.
Looking at the messages at the forum it looks like the 4.20 release is breaking when using multiple devices.

Trust Garmin will pickup this issue with priority as the R10 now is not functioning anymore for multiple people (as it looks like a more general and not individual issue).

  • You probable tried it but does it work with Garmin driving range? If not it's Garmin's problem for sure.

  • Hello, I've been keeping an eye on this thread. Can we ensure the suggestions in the following support article are reviewed?

  • Thanks for your remark.

It's good to mention all attempts have been made (after the first one with E6) with the Garmin driving range.
The driving range was not showing any data (no also no club path) on both the Android as the Ipad (tested separately with only Bluetooth activated at the device used for testing)

  • Oops.

May be a serious bug in 4.2

I' ve not upgraded yet, and seems like I will avoid it for a while..

  • All, The reason the R10 not registering the data was due to the golf ball.
When testing I've used only one ball (Wilson Titanium) and this ball was not recognized by the R10.
Using a different brand ball the R10 was picking up the shots again like normal.

    @Garmin-Rob,

    Thanks for your prompt support.
