4.20 plus app update but now no ball data??

What happened?? Updated FW to 4.20 and downloaded app update on iPad (and Android as well). Now it traces the shot in driving range mode but ZERO ball data or stats. Anyone else experience this or might know what's going on? I've tried re-pairing, re-connecting, etc. with no change. Thanks.

  • when you click on the 3 lines on the range session, just as you would to end the season, there are 4 boxes at the top.  So instead of swiping left to see it, you have to go to the menu and switch the view.

  • Thanks, I've tried that as well but I'm getting zero data on any screen. It's weird, I see the shot tracking "live" in the driving range view but no stats and absolutely no ball data on any of the screens. And the shot count doesn't enumerate either. I may try the factory reset next if I can't get it working again. Appreciate the feedback though.

  • Make sure you don’t have two devices connected with Bluetooth on. I have both an iPhone and iPad mini I use with the r10 depending if I am using the projector or not. Same thing happened to me and realized my phone inside the house was also connected when the iPad was. Disabled Bluetooth on one, and it worked fine. If not that, force close app, restart, etc.

  • I too have the same issue.  After updating to 4.2 I no longer get any data.

  • Ok, 8593195 seems to have pointed to the problem. I too use multiple devices (my phone, iPad, son's phone) and with the new updates, the pairing or re-pairing doesn't quite work as one would expect (i.e. show connection/paired but no data). One of the previously connected devices showed connection but no data, even with the other devices disconnected. A fresh app install, which forced a new setup, did the trick (and no other devices connected on BT). I'll try some more scenarios with the other devices and see if I can get some reliable operation on all of them.

  • Thanks...device conflict could have started this issue (combine with 4.20 update).

I have removed the Garmin Golf app from my iPad and turn off the iPad.  I have deleted and reinstalled the Garmin app on my iphone 13 and it still doesn't work.  I am suspicious that I can't get the Garmin r10 to properly reset.  When I hold down the power button it goes from blank to solid green to solid blue and the LED never turns off (I have held it for 3 minutes).  Without a proper reset I wonder if this prevents pairing to a "new" device.

  • If You press and hold the power button until the led turns solid blue, the Garmin is in search mode for bluetooth devices.

So then You have to pair it again on Your phone.

When paired, the device will automatically pair to the latest device it was paired to.

If that was another device, You switch off bluetooth on that device. No need to remove the app.

Check Garmin units in the menu to see if Your device is connected or not.

  • I have done exactly what you suggest and appears to make the connection but the unit doesn't send data (or is able to calibrate).  I am guessing my unit is bad...time to return.

  • Hi.

If the unit is ready to capure shots it should flash green.

Does it do this (after pairing / showing connected)?

If Yes, then the led should turn red when You start Your backswing, meaning it's busy, as it should be.

If You make practice swings, the unit may not have time to be ready before You do Your actual shot, and nothing will happen.

Just something to test before returning.

Make sure the unit is flashing green when You make Your shot.

  • Yep unit flashes green and then when I start my swing it turns red (I was told this indicates it is capturing data).

All sequencing of the lights (flashing green...going red....back to flashing green) seems to indicate proper operation but data does not appear to be able to get to my phone.
