Same here. Got this at least 10 times today and no Garmin Rob all your suggestions don't help. It's clearly a software bug with 4.20. Never had this issue prior to updating to 4.2.
Yes in the app it asks if I want to wake up the R10
Hello, is there an indication in the Golf app that the R10 is in standby mode? Did you try calibrating the R10 on a level surface with a leveler since the update? Steps for calibrating can be found on the support page linked below.

Same thing with my unit. On the latest firmware, shots read great, I'm calibrated and out of nowhere, the R10 will start falling asleep multiple times in the course of a few minutes. Nothing in the environment changes and I am set up according to Garmin spec with the device calibrated. It will go for 20-30 minutes and not go to sleep once and then go to sleep between multiple shots in a row. This definitely feels like a bug of some sort.
Not sure if this helps anyone, but today when playing HTH, the unit suddenly went into standby all the time.
The issue was that the unit had switched bluetooth connection from my tab to my phone.
No warning on the tablet, and no asking for wake up the unit, so maybe not related.
I'm still on 4.0, and problem was easily solved by turning off bluetooth on my phone, after which the unit reconnected to my tablet after wake up press on the back.
