Busy (red) when aimed toward water heater

Just set up my hitting area in the garage and have been hitting balls without the Garmin setup. Unpacked the Approach 10, following all the directions, and it was very easy. When facing the direction of my hitting screen the Approach 10 remains in busy mode. I turn it away and then I get the blinking green light. Took down my hitting screen and relocated (not in desired location), and it works fine. So evidently the signal is being disrupted by the water heater in some way. Anyone had this issue? I would like to go back to my original configuration. Thanks.

  • I have a similar issue with being in a garage with a natural gas forced air heater (Canada).  If the heater is running AND the fan is on the R10 will go from blinking green to red with a quick green blink and back to red as soon as the fan kicks in (after ignition).  Anyway, it seems the R10 is very sensitive to interference from appliances as well as fluorescent lights.  Is your water heater gas powered?  If so, does it have a fan on the top?  Gas heaters with fans on the top are the newer high efficiency models.  I would suspect the fan is the culprit, but anything large and metal could potentially affect the R10.

In my case, even if I point the R10 in any direction and position in my garage with the heater fan running it does not go into ready mode.  That is blinking green.  If heats on, there is no golf!
