Adjusting altitude on e6 connect

I seen someone say if you adjust the altitude on e6 connect to 4000ft above sea level it helps if the yardage is off. Will the only work when playing e6 connect ? Because I never use that part of the app. I only use the driving range or else the home tee hero courses.

  • You can change the altitude in E6 and it seems like it will carry over to all of 36 software, like the driving range in E6 and chipping putting areas. Not sure about the games in E6

  • Go to Setting / Environment / Elevation and set your custom value. It should apply that value as the default to course and practice sessions.

  • Yes only E6, won’t apply to home tee hero. It’s a shame because I’ve been having the same i

  • Issues as everyone else with yardage. Even E6 I have to Jack it up to 10k above sea level to hit a average 7i to 150 which is what I do in real life for years.

  • Garmin...please-please-please dedicate some resources to "user experience" team to think like a user (instead of engineers).  Being able to adjust for altitude (yet another Rcky Mtn'er here!), not having the R10 "go to sleep" and need 'waking up' every few shots...and no, not letting the R10 sit idle for 10 minutes...I hit, look at iPad, fetch another ball, set it up and zzzzzz!  OMG!

How about adding a pivot ball on tripod to allow for micro adjustments to face angle (so it's not 'tilting') or maybe add 1/2" - 1" articulation in the legs of tripod (for leveling), get the Approach sensors working with Golf watches working R10 to unify &/or compare data - or - allow a few simple button presses on Fenix 6 to control / access / read the R10 data.

To 7250707's point below, I hit my 3W 265 pretty regularly....I got my new R10 toy, went to range to compare what I know my distances to be with what R10's saying; I stroked my 3w and the R10 showed it 220...altitude adjustment? range ball 5-10% difference?  TBD.

  • I'm with you Joe. For me - 10k is not enough. I've built a garage sim around this device with mats all the way from the R10 to the ball and 9 feet from the ball to the screen, using all the "cheats like raising the altitude and temperature, and the the back legs, etc. and it's still not close. I don't understand how they could put it out on the market like this.  I'm paying for the Awesome Golf sim until they fix it. At least AG lets you bump up the altitude to 16k.  I'm finding that in my garage sim, it takes a bump to about 14k to get the distances about right. That's all it would take to make my user experience acceptable.

Another relatively easy fix might be to let the user manually adjust (calibrate) distances by a percentage ..as Joe also suggested.

I also notice that if my club hits the mat even after I hit the ball, the R10 seems to calculate a MUCH slower club speed, which throws off the already short distances even more, but I can live with that by learning to pick it clean or using a small tee on every shot.

  • Yesterday my golfing buddy heard a few times that I hit the mat slightly before the ball with a hybrid, which you can get away with unless you're hitting off real turf. But, the Garmin penalized me 20 yards! This anecdote seems to align with your observation.

  • This has to be wrong..

The app is not calculating distance based on club speed, but ball speed.

So You can have a reading of 1 mph club speed, and it would not affect distance at all as long as the ball speed is measured correctly.

  • Yes, in fact clubhead speed is all over the map, sometimes giving smash factor over 1.5. But, this phenomenon could still be explained by an aberration in their AI, which is notorious for poor explainability Grin

  • Yeah.

But hitting the club into the mat before ball will lose You 20 yards.

Been there, done that, so many times in real life Slight smile
