Range Session Yesterday - Surprising results

I took my R10 to the range yesterday and wanted to provide some of the feedback, which was surprising. Here are the details....

Weather: Mid 50's and overcast with 15-20 mph head wind

While it may have been a humbling experience, I am still curious of the numbers that I was seeing. The R10 was at least 95% accurate in tracing the shot and distance.

My question for others is that I did see a 20 yard difference in what I thought my clubs played....everything close to 20 yards shorter than I expected however, when using the rangefinder, the numbers were accurate.

Kind of confusing, as I know I hit a PW about 120yrds on the course but the range was a consistent 100 yrd shot. More importantly, is the R10 giving an accurate reading on the outdoor range, real grass and no net?

Any thoughts on the feedback? Would the range balls played a difference, as I understand they are typically 15-20% distance reducing? (plan on hitting a few of my "non-range" balls next time to if there is a difference)

Honestly i think the 15-20 mph head wind is going to effect you by 25 yards, tail wind would add about 15. Did you set the head wind on the garmin?

I've done a little testing on regular range balls (Wilson practice balls, not limited flight) and found they are, on average, about 10-15% shorter than my normal gamers.

Admittedly I didn't run through my entire bag, as I can't afford to toss that many good balls down the range. But it's seemed to pan out pretty consistently when using my adjusted range numbers on the course.

Hitting into the wind is obviously going to have an effect as well, 20mph into the wind will easily take off a club or two, depending on the flight of the ball.
