Both phone and pc need to be on same wifi.. Go to simulator options in e6, and select configure, it should show "localhost" and an IP Address, select the IP Address, and then enter that address into your phone when you run the e6 option
Sometimes your laptop will have multiple IP addresses, or will change IP addresses. I go to start-->run, type in ipconfig /all which will show all of your current IP addresses on the laptop. In simulator setup in e6 software, you will have to highlight the IP address that is active. Then, in the garmin golf app, when you connect to e6, you will need to plug in the correct IP address and port.
Whenever I reboot my laptop, I pick up a new IP address from my router, and I have to reconfigure the IP address and the port in e6 and the garmin golf app.
Hope this helps someone out there.
In GSPro when you start the API it shows the IP address that you should enter in E6connect which makes it easier.
Hey , I have a similar issue and you seem to be knowledgeable on this.
I got the R10 a while ago and tried to get it to work with E6 on my windows laptop with no success after trying everything. You should know I got Tittle X which is a low end simulator that gave you 5 free courses on E6 and it worked great for what it was. Sooo... I have E6 on my laptop just need to switch simulators from Tittle to Garmin. Talked to Garmin and E6 people and we couldn't figure it out. Finally got the Garmin to work on an Iphone and E6 ios version but I really want to use the high end laptop and Garmin together as the graphics look very good.
You say when you open E6/simulator/ configure area you see the "local host" and IP Address information which you enter into your phone. I don't see this information . The E6 software does "see" the R10 at all.... The Tittle X used bluetooth to talk to E6. If anyone knows how to make it work I would definitely appreciate it.
Mike
I do really like the R10 btw.
As far as I know E6connect on the R10 is only used on PC for connecting to an API on to GSPro software or an E6 license. The 5 free courses on it only works with apple phone.
Thanks for you reply.... Thought as much. Left a suggestion with TruGolf about this and hoping they provide a way to connect your android to pc version of E6.
There should be no problem connecting Garmin Golf app to desktop E6.
That being said I have not tried it myself yet, but as a network guy I can imagine possible reasons why it's not working.
1. First of all You need to know the IP address Your desktop has. As mentioned in another post, Your pc may have several. However unlikely as it is rare to use network cable and wifi simultaniously.
If You type cmd in the bottom left search field on Your pc, and then type ipconfig in the appearing black window, You should see the ipv4 address of Your wifi adapter. Normally this would be something like 192.168.1.xxx where xxx is the varying number Your wifi router gives the pc when You connect to Your wifi network. Remember this address.
2. In Garmin golf app open E6 and press play on pc.
In the appearing window follow step 1 and 2. The important thing here would be to enter Your pc's ip address and port number IN THE GARMIN GOLF APP.
If You press the bottom red line in the Garmin Golf app, a page should appear where You enter the IP address of Your Pc (as found in step one).
Unless You have changed port there should be no need to change the default port 2483.
3. Now the phone should be connected to the pc.
If not, most likely causes:
1. Your phone is not connected to same wifi as the PC. For example You could be using Your mobile network on Your phone. Will not work as Your phone will not be able to see Your pc.
2. More likely, on Your PC You have a firewall enabled (antivirus software).
A firewall will normally block port 2483, and then the communication between mobile and pc will not be established. To solve this turn off firewall to verify this is causing the issue, and then configure the firewall to allow traffic on port 2483 before turning it on again.
Actually when go execute the API on your PC the API displays the IP address it's using you enter that into the E6 Connect.
