Reverting to previous software versions

Hi,

Is it possible to revert or change what software version the R10 uses?

I had been on 3.30, and while the shot shape wasn't perfect, the distances were great and it was very usable.

Given the developer notes for 3.60, I updated, but now the distances seem really low, and I've had significantly more complete misreads (eg. 45 degree shanks from normal shots) which I never had before. I had played numerous complete rounds on e6 without ever needing a forced mulligan for a total misread, but now I'm regularly having to.

Please advise if it's possible to 'choose' which version to use.

Thanks

  • thanks for your feedback, I'm curious about "misreads" - are your misreads a tracking error?  The word misreads on this forum is being used to describe two things: it tracked the ball, but completely got the information wrong and/or it recorded nothing at all.

what do you feel is the percentage of misreads (tracking error) and what do you feel is the percentage of missed reads (no info at all)?

  • Sorry, I mean tracking error.

3.3: shots definitely had a slight fade bias, but height speed and distance were all really close. Played multiple e6 sim rounds with no misreads or significant tracking errors. 8/10 very content

3.6: was excited to test last night thinking the notes would resolve the only issues I have. But I couldn’t get a 4i above 160-170, and hit a couple of 9irons fairly solidly that read as shanks. I’ll test again tonight but it wasn’t usable for sim rounds.

I’m pleased Garmin are releasing updates and I am happy with my R10 but this is clearly quite frustrating.

  • thanks for your notes, my issue has been mainly miss reads (no info)... but this was at a driving range with other golfers in the bays next to me (and occasionally they were not).  I did have some misreads (tracking error) that were quite comical.

I don't work for Garmin, I'm just an R10 owner, but for accuracy and consistency, I would like to suggest an alignment device since the unit is very difficult to square up to target (even 1 degree off will give one the impression of inaccuracy).

There's another R10 owner who cleverly figured out an alignment stand and used a 3D printer to make one.  It's on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNTfaO5iFQg

There's a link to his page on Etsy, or if you know how to do 3D printing he will email you the file.
