Pairing with Apple Mac to update using Garmin Express

I’ve been trying to update the firmware on the R10 using Garmin Express on Mac. I’ve been connecting using a USB after disconnecting the device completely from my golf app on iPhone. I’ve tried connecting with the light flashing blue and solid blue but no joy at all. Garmin express searches but never finds the device

Any tips? And if I can’t connect will then firmware updates be installed via the iPhone app and Bluetooth instead of the wired usb to mac? My distances are so far out that I need to be able to get any updates that may fix this

This worked for me: Hold the power button until you first get a blue light and keep holding until it gets green. Release and the unit show up in Garmin Connect.

Thank you! Ive tried all modes but didn't get anywhere. I contacted Garmin support chat who didn't really want to offer any advice to me apart from try another cable and then contact the online shop I brought it from to send it back!

I was pretty shocked by how poor the support was unless they know its a known problem and that there was no point trying anything

I also dont get the R10 connected to my Macbook. Any Advice in the meantime?

I had the same problem and I tried another cable and that fixed the problem

oh yes - thank you. changing the usb cable solved my problem in the second!

Also make sure to eject the device after firmware update. I forgot to do that the first time (just unplugged it) and the firmware update didn't complete.. glad I didn't screw up the device!

Just to say I had originally tried 2 different cables with no success, after reading this I tried a 3rd and it worked. Why don’t garmin send the thing out with a suitable cable?
