Almostgolf Practice balls

This is really interesting as I have a setup where it would be preferable to use Almost Balls. Can’t see how they can give an accurate reading for a real ball but interested in your testing! 

Ok, I was a bit optimistic. With clubs longer than pitching wedge.. the distances are not accurate.

but it did read them ok? How was the flight pattern? I tried traditional foam balls and it doesn't even register. I'm OK with distance being off because for now I'm working on things like club path, attack angle, etc.. Did those register OK?

Got mine and while yes they read they don't carry so basically only good for chipping or wedge play with R10.     Tried smacking with driver and it only exacerbated the issue of R10 reporting short distances already with real balls indoors.

Sounds like they could develop an option for selecting foam balls or real balls.  For the foam balls an algorithm would just take into account the degree of shortages from foam balls and add that back in to the calculations in order to extrapolate the real distance if a real ball....lets hope Garmin engineering can answer the cal on this. 

I'm about to buy the R10. I need something indoor for the winter time. However, I can only play indoor with Almost balls, otherwise my wife will complain. That would be a real gamechanger if the R10 would recognize the Almost balls well. Is there any news about this yet? Would then need an extra function for indoor with softer balls, where the algorithm of some data would have to be changed. That would be great.I'm about to buy the R10. I’ve just purchased an R10. I had intended on using it at the range as well as my garden with a net. However, if an option could be added to use almost golf balls, then it’ll be possible to use my garage as well. Does anyone know if this feature is on the roadmap?

The Doppler radar components are likely identical across the other brands' launch monitors. I don't believe any of them track those.

Agreed, I was more thinking a software fix. You’d select the type of ball you’re using and the system would compensate for the use of nearly golf balls.
