I have already raised the issue with scoring problems relating to the G80 when recording multiple players scores, but yesterday, I'm sorry to say that I discovered yet another one.
My playing partner and I decided to play Matchplay, and I setup the G80 with my handicap (15) and his (18), therefore resulting in me giving my opponent three shots on what SHOULD be the three hardest holes on the course... stroke indexes 1,2 and 3.
However, it soon become apparent that the G80 was giving the shots to my opponent on holes that had stroke indexes 16,17 and 18 which is incorrect.
So for example, on the easiest hole on the course (stroke index 18) - a par 4 - despite the fact that I pared it and my opponent recorded a 5, according to the G80 we halved the hole as he had a shot. Not true.
A similar thing happened on the hardest hole on the course (stroke index 1) a long par four, where we both recorded a five. My opponent should win the hole as he's scored a five nett four, but according to the G80, we halved it as we both had the same score.
As much as I love the G80 for the launch monitor and on-course GPS, I'm close to sending this back for a full refund as it's riddled with software bugs and not fit for purpose. I also have to question who at Garmin actually tested the device before launch, as some of the issues are really basic and from a golfers perspective, pretty obvious. It's been EIGHT months since any software update, and there doesn't appear to be any sign of one coming anytime soon.
