Fit file sport name is garbled

Hi there,

I apologize if this is the wrong place for this, but I am a bit stuck. I have a user using a Fenix7. She has alerted us to the fact that her sport name always appears corrupted. I found her FIT file, and converted it to CSV using the FitSDK. I can see that the value looks like Run|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||+|||||L0-xh;0d|||-|||||L0=0;|=0L0L0=0L0-:0||||0K0|L0L0 which seems strange to me. I will add a workaround in my application to handle corrupted values like this, but I was wondering if anyone knew why this was happening?

What FIT SDK are you using to decode the file? If you split the string on \0 and then take the value at index 0 you will get "Run".

Devices allocate enough space to hold the max string length, but that memory is not always cleared. Instead a null terminator is written after the value.

The binary FIT protocol allows for any field to be an array. It is the getter and setters that enforce the FIT Profile which is where fields are declared as single values or arrays.

As an example, on line 95, the second parameter to GetFieldValue is the index. The GetSport() method always returns the value at index zero, which in this case would be "Run".
