Corrupted Fit File

Good Morning,

yesterday I started an activity with my Garmin Edge 840 and have a few problems with the fit file.

I analyzed the file with https://www.fitfileviewer.com and there will miss two laps, too.

The laps should be:

0.0 km - 6.4 km = 1. Lap (6,4 km) 8:10:11 - 08:22

6.4 km - 50.82 km = 2. Lap(44,42 km) 08:22 - 10:02

50.82 km - 131.13 km = 3. Lap (80.31 km) 10:02 - END

In the Fit analyzer I can see all ClimbPro-Climbs, but they are missing for lap 1 and 2 in the Garmin Connect:

The background:
I started an activity and after a specific time a pressed the lap button (lap 1). Then I rode a course to check this out and after completion I pressed the lap button (Lap 2) again.

During the break my Garmin Edge 840 crashed and restarted by hisself... After this the activtiy was still open, but the important data of the lap 1+2 are missing.

The data of heart rate, pace, power are in the full fit file, but the laps are missing. These laps are very important for me. Also the ClimbPro Climbs will be interesting because I did a race check of the course...

In the fit analyzer I found the unexpected restart of the Edge...

Can someone help me to get the missing two LAPS and Climbs back?

Thank you very much.

Marco

  • Hi Scott,

thanks for your reply. I tried it but I do not get it working..

  • To add laps, go to the Session and Laps tab, click on the box next to the single lap, choose split selected lap, type 6.4 into the where to split field and repeat for the other lap at the other distance. I don't know how to add Climbs which is a special feature not supported by the FIT file repair tool.

The first lap is exactly 6.5km

The second lap is exactly 44.32km

The last lap is exactly 80.31km.

    Full distance was 131,13km

May you can fix this please?

  • I think the discrepancy in distances may be that there are some gaps in your records in which your GPS position changed. The main change seems to be the third gap which is 14:27 long and where you moved over 4km. If I delete all the records up to this point and then recreate the laps, I get a file which is close to what you describe. It also clears up most of the anomaly of your file starting at 7:49:42 when you say it should start at 8:10:11 German time. This revised file starts at 8:09:37 and has laps of 6.49, 44.32, 80.09.

If you'd like to make even more careful changes, I suggest you download the Fit File Repair Tool yourself.

  • Thanks so much. It is working. I have to inform me about the Fit File Repair Tool.

  • You're welcome.

The Fit File Repair Tool has excellent documentation in the PDF file here:

    https://www.fitfilerepairtool.info/faq-support/

I think it is still free to use.

I've purchased a license because I've gotten so much value out of it over the years.

Auch, glaube ich, dass der Entwickler Deutscher ist, wie Sie :->
