New course_point type values in Fenix 7 course files

I'm seeing reports on the Fenix 7 forum that there are new course_point types in courses generated for those watches supporting the Up Ahead feature. The current FIT SDK (21.67) contains definitions for values from 0-25, and there are values above that such as 28 for aid station. Will those be showing up in a new SDK release soon, please? Asking as a developer who generates FIT course files and would like to support these new values in the near future.

These are the new course point names and ids. These are the snake_case versions, which will become PascalCase or camelCase depending on the style guide of the SDK. All of these are currently in use in…

Yup highly likely. Don’t think there’s much we can do until the next SDK arrives. Garmin posted in another thread that the Q1 release will be in March.

Yes I saw that ... I only hope the wait will be worth it and that we would get all the missing definitions/values as there are quite a lot from a couple of FIT I generated during some trail/run workouts..

I saw that the SDK Connect IQ has been updated March 2d but it seems that the FIT SDK is still on 21.67 October 14, I was wrongly assuming that both would be in sync but it seems that there is no dependencies ? (am still waiting for the updated FIT SDK as the current one is really missing too much fields and not really documented has it should)

Different teams I think. There must be some overlap where new features on the devices drive updates to both SDKs. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a different Garmin internal SDK that has the complete set of fields, as opposed to the limited set they release publicly (even when it does arrive, you probably won't be able to interpret every field in the Fenix 7 files, as historically it's not been possible to interpret every field in previous devices).

You can't do anything with course points in IQ. It seems that you can only write particular stuff to FIT files in IQ. So, yeah, no dependencies.

The new course point types should be added in the Q2 release, which currently has an ETA of late May. If possible, I will post them here ahead of time.
