Just for information, I have found a JavaScript parser called backfit on https://github.com/backfit/backfit which seems to be a fork of easy-fit https://github.com/pierremtb/easy-fit
It seems to work pretty well within node and with some effort it looks like it could be made to work as a client side source file. It doesn't seem to be very active though.
It possibly isn't as sophisticated as the code provided by Garmin.
It would be really nice if Garmin might consider creating a JavaScript version for client and server (node) side since it would get properly maintained and updated.
