Dear Garmin Team,
I use a Garmin Tread 2 primarily for off-road motorcycle navigation, along with the Garmin handlebar controller.
I have noticed a function that I believe could be usefully expanded:
The handlebar controller allows the "Change Map Type" function to be assigned to a button. However, what I am missing is the ability to specifically toggle between available or activated topo maps/map layers using the controller.
For off-road navigation in particular, I feel this would be far more useful than simply switching the general map type. Different topo maps are better suited to different terrains and situations. It would be very practical to be able to cycle through them while riding with a quick press of a handlebar button, without having to interact with the display or open the map layer menu.
My suggestion for improvement is therefore:
"Switch Map Layer/Topo Map" function for the handlebar controller
In addition to "Change Map Type," there should be a function allowing the user to switch between available or user-selected topo maps/map layers.
Ideally, the user could pre-select which maps are included in this cycle and, if desired, the order in which they appear.
Display of the currently active map
In the standard navigation/map view, it is currently not immediately obvious to me which of the available maps is actually being displayed or—if multiple maps are active—which one is on top.
It would therefore be very helpful to have a small, optional indicator in the map view—such as an icon or a brief text label—showing the name of the currently displayed map.
When switching via the handlebar controller, the map name could also be displayed for a few seconds (e.g., "TopoActive Europe") to provide the rider with immediate feedback on which map has been selected. Especially when using the Tread 2 on off-road and adventure motorcycles, this combination—switching maps via the handlebar controller and having a clear display of the currently active map—would significantly simplify operation while riding.
I would appreciate it if you could forward this suggestion to the relevant product development team.
Kind regards,
