BMW Navigator V & VI does not function with any USB 3.0 device, only with USB 2.0. Will Garmin fix this? It has been a problem for the past few years. I have posted this on several forums and have received similar complaints from others. I use a Dell 5510, the only way for me to connect either Nav V or Nav VI is to first connect a Thunderbolt with stepped down USB 2.0 ports. Pardon my English on this German site, but as I have posted this on numerous US sites, there seems to be no one at Garmin who is interested in addressing.

I think I may have just figured it out!!! So here is what I just noticed... The thunderbolt has two usb2.0 and three usb3.0 connections. I just tested all the connections and realized that the Nav connects perfectly to my laptop through the usb2 & usb3 thunderbold connectors except for one - This one has a spec of "usb3.0 with powershare". lo and behold, i looked at the specs for this laptop, it has only two usb3.0 both with powershare. So possibly after all this time, you may have just helped me solve the mystery? Is it possible that Nav V & VI can connect ok with any usb except those with powershare?

  • Í m not familiar with the USB specs and therefore I don’t know.
But at the end you found the solution. Grinning

It was a great pleasure for me to give you some ideas and support.
