can I add di2 as a sensor on the edge explorer 2?

I just replaced my dead Edge 1030 with the Explore 2. I'm happy so far but It won't recognize my di2. Is there a way to add the di2 as a sensor?

It's not crucial but it would be nice.

Thanks

  • The Garmin Edge Explore 2 may not detect Di2 (Shimano electronic shifting) if the Bluetooth connection is not set up correctly or if there are issues with the Di2 firmware or wireless module. It's important to ensure that the Di2 system and Garmin device are ready to connect and that the latest firmware versions are installed.

    Here are some troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check Di2 connection:

    Enable Bluetooth connection:

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Di2 system. According to BetterShifting, Bluetooth LE/ANT wireless functionality is enabled by default on 12-speed Di2 systems (105, Ultegra, Dura-Ace).

    Enable pairing mode:

On the Di2 rear derailleur (12-speed), press and hold the function button for 0.5 to 2 seconds to activate Bluetooth pairing mode. The LED should flash blue, as explained by BetterShifting.

    Connect Garmin with Di2:

On your Garmin Edge Explore 2, go to the sensor settings and search for new sensors. The Di2 system should be recognized as a "sensor," according to GPS Radler and ROTWILD Bikes.

    Confirm connection:

After connecting, information such as ride mode, range, charge level, and cadence will be displayed on the Garmin display, according to ROTWILD Bikes.

    2. Garmin Connect app:

    Update app:

Make sure the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone is up to date.

    Remove and re-pair device:

Remove the Garmin device from the Garmin Connect app and your smartphone's Bluetooth settings, then try pairing the devices again as explained on the Garmin website.

    Check your smartphone connection:

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and that your smartphone is within 10 meters of your Garmin device, according to Garmin.

    3. Di2 firmware and wireless module:

    Check firmware:

Check that the firmware of your Di2 system and wireless module is up to date. Older firmware versions may cause compatibility issues.

    Check wireless module:

Make sure the Di2 wireless module (D-FLY) is working properly and is connected correctly, according to Shimano Bike.
