Will the disconnect issue with Pixel phones ever be solved?

I've been getting the latest Pixel through work every two years since Google launched them, was using other "vanilla" android phones before without problems.

My Forerunner will not stay connected to my phone, making the notification features completely useless.  I bought my watch because I wanted a running watch that I could get notifications for calls, texts, and teams messages.  Basically I wanted to run and not have to constantly pull my phone out to see if it was actually something I needed to see right now.  It cannot reliably do that, and haven't been able to for years.

I've been in the Garmin ecosystem for more than a decade, well before I bought this watch, and frankly I'm willing to buy a new watch just to fix this problem.  Unfortunately it seems that there is no Garmin watch that will work, and that this issue will never be resolved.  ***Please correct me if I'm wrong***

There are other major manufacturers of GPS Running/Activity tracking watches that I can get that will cover everything I need which is simply a watch that will accurately track my activities, while allowing me to keep my phone packed away.

Why can't I get that from Garmin anymore?  Will this ever be resolved?
