Activities cannot sync to Garmin Connect

I have completed an activity with my Garmin vivomove HR, the activity was recorded and is saved on the device.
However, the activity will not send to the mobile or desktop app after it shows the sync has been completed.

I think this is the file of the recording as I started the activity as "Walking".
Please could you have a look and see if there are any issues with this file causing it not to sync with the apps.

I did try uploading it manually to the Garmin Connect web but it also failed there.

Thanks 6WALKING.FIT.zip

hi, sorry to hear about your mishap

this is not your activity fit file but an activity profile fit file

if there is an ACTIVITY folder on your device , search in here for the correct fit file labelled with the activities date

when not, you could scan your watch with a recovery program like recuva or bitwar

Thank you so much for the quick response.

I had a look and there are no files in the activity folder, not even for previous activities. But they are all displaying on my watch.

I have a Mac and recuva is windows based and bitwar wants me to pay a subscription fee to recover the files. Is there anyway around this?

    pay a subscription fee

    Disk Drill ?

    Data Rescue 5 ?

    phtorec or testdisk ?

But they are all displaying on my watch

strange, what I know, without fit files there is no list to display

So I ran it on another PC and it came up with three files that were recovered. I uploaded them manually but the activity makes no sense because it is time stamped for an hour ago and only recorded a few seconds. Which isn't right at all.

Would you be able to have a look at them and see if this is right?

    _B1I0529.FIT

has only system data in it and no sports data

    _1FL1610.FIT

is a real fit file started an hour ago with a length of 22 seconds

    _BLM1931.FIT

is a real fit file from nov 21 '19 with a length of 33 seconds

do a search for fit files on your mac or phone ... could be in a folder called failed or error ?

what kind of tool did you use on the pc ?

Nothing showed up for failed or error

    We used the recuva software

It is showing that there is a file that has been overwritten (now unrecoverable) which was at the same time I had just finished the activity. The overwriting file is called ETRICS.FIT which can be recovered.

Should I try and recover this?

The overwriting file is called ETRICS.FIT which can be recovered.

recovering is not getting the correct filename, but the correct content Smile or what is left of it

    go ahead with this one

no knowledge about recuva, but there should be settings to recover consecutive sectors or data ?

    search for fit file Thumbsup

I'm not if this is a lost cause and maybe should rather just leave this activity.

See what happens tomorrow when I do my workouts and if it doesn't sync again then I will have to take it back to where I bought it from and get them to check it our
