Garmin Forerunner 245 will not connect to GPS

Garmin 245 was working perfectly for about a month, but recently will not connect to GPS no matter what I do. It just stays red and doesn't budget. I've tried all of the below with zero change.

- went to the park for 30 minutes

- synced with Garmin connect

- turned on-off

- connected to the computer over night

- did soft reset

- did hard reset, wiping all data in the process of course.

Any help / suggestions are appreciated.

I would try connecting your device via USB to your computer then delete the EPO.BIN file in the folder D:\GARMIN\REMOTESW. After that use Garmin Express to sync. This will refresh a possibly corrupt GPS…

On a Mac you'll need something like A ndroid File Transfer or similar. However, syncing with Garmin Express might have been enough to fix your issue. I would try it then if still having issues, try deleting…

Boom, downloaded the Android File Transfer onto my mac, accessed the GARMIN\REMOTESW folder and deleted the EPO.BIN file. Everything is now working. Thank you for the help!!!

I would try connecting your device via USB to your computer then delete the EPO.BIN file in the folder D:\GARMIN\REMOTESW. After that use Garmin Express to sync. This will refresh a possibly corrupt GPS cache as well as check for possible updates.

Thank you for the response. I've done the wireless and wired updates through Garmin Express. Now searching for the file. Will let you know. Thanks again!

I'm on a Macbook and the Garmin device doesn't show up as a drive when I connect it. I can connect to Express and IQ, but a Garmin drive with folders doesn't appear, like iphone for example. it's late so I'm calling it for now, but any advice for finding Garmin folders on a Mac book would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi.

I have the same issue, I already delete the file and sync with Garmin Express, go outside for more than 5 minutes with clear sky, and the watch never lock the gps. Also I have the latest version( 5.0). Please help me on this.

Because of the error, I cant see the map on garmin connect after I ran.

Try some of the fixes on this Garmin support document: Expired EPO on a Garmin Outdoor Watch

Also, connect USB to your Garmin and computer then backup the \Garmin\Activity folder then remove the fit files within. You might be reaching capacity on your device

I am trying this today, because my Forerunner 245 has stopped getting quick connection to GPS. (Last week it didn't connect until 2 miles into my run.) When plugged into the computer, I can find the REMOTESW file, but inside it, I see only CPE.BIN, not EPO.BIN. Should I delete this CPE.BIN file and then continue?
