Garmin Express V 6.14.0.0 and comparability with MacOS Catalina

I upgraded to MacOS Catalina and my Garmin Approach G30 is no longer recognized. I have Garmin Express 6.14.0.0. GE shows there's an update but when I go to update, I am told the update failed but I am not told why. Any solutions here?

Same thing happened to me with my Edge 25. Garmin said my cable must be faulty. I found this surprising as the cable charged the Edge 25 just fine. Garmin sent me a new cable but, unsurprisingly, it made no difference, I tried Apple support but they hadn't heard of Garmin! At that point I gave up.
