not connected

H i have had my montana 600 a couple of years for motorcycle use i have never had any need to connect it to computer

tonight i attempted to connect to my laptop to load some routes i was given .upon plugging into laptop the 600 beeps and shows the usb symbol .

but nothing shows on my computer in any way when i try to connect to a device in garmen base camp the please connect a device is shown .

i have attempted this on 2 laptops and with 2 different usb cables and get the same result anyone have any clue what to try next

Can you find your Montana displayed in Windows Explorer? Maybe your Montana belongs to those devices which can't be connected directly to Basecamp. In this case tracks, routes etc. can only be transferred via File -> Export to the corresponding folder of your Montana.

On the other hand I have a similar problem with Mapsource and Basecamp on my W7 PC: both programs don't find or recognize my 76C(S)x'es. Fortunately these devices can be connected without problems to Mapsource/Basecamp on my W7 and W10 notebooks.
