Hi Garmin Team,
First of all, thank you for continuing to develop Home Tee Hero. It's a fantastic way to stay engaged with golf throughout the year, and it has become a regular part of my practice and entertainment.
I would like to suggest a few features that I believe could significantly improve the competitive aspect of the platform and encourage long-term engagement among users.
1. Home Tee Hero Handicap
Would it be possible to introduce a Home Tee Hero handicap system, similar to what TrackMan offers?
One of the most motivating aspects of practicing and playing regularly is being able to measure personal improvement over time. While leaderboards and scores are useful, a dedicated Home Tee Hero handicap would provide a simple and meaningful benchmark of a player's current level. It would also give users an additional reason to keep playing and tracking their progress.
2. Division-Based Competition System
Currently, Home Tee Hero offers weekly tournaments, which are great, but I think there is an opportunity to create a more engaging long-term competitive structure.
My suggestion would be a division-based system where players compete each week not only for tournament rankings, but also for promotion or relegation between divisions. Similar to many sports leagues, players could move up or down based on their performance over time.
The desire to earn promotion could be a strong motivational factor and encourage more participation in weekly tournaments. It would also provide users with a clearer sense of progression and achievement.
Alternatively, if promotion and relegation are too complex, divisions could be handicap-based, using a Home Tee Hero handicap to group players of similar skill levels. Competing against players of a comparable standard is often more motivating than simply finishing, for example, 650th overall. A ranking only has value when it can be interpreted relative to a player's own ability level.
3. Season-Long Tour League
Another idea would be to introduce a season-long Tour League inspired by professional tours such as the PGA Tour or DP World Tour.
Instead of standalone weekly tournaments, players could earn points across multiple events and courses over a longer period, such as a month or a quarter. Certain tournaments could carry additional weight, similar to major championships or playoff events.
This concept could also include multiple tour tiers, creating another pathway for promotion and relegation. The winner of the highest division at the end of the season could earn the title of Home Tee Hero Champion.
I believe a system like this would create stronger engagement, foster a larger and more active player community, and give players meaningful long-term goals beyond individual tournament results.
Final Thoughts
In general, I would welcome any tournament-related initiatives that help create long-term progression, meaningful competition, and better ways to measure personal development. Home Tee Hero already has a strong foundation, and I believe features like handicaps, divisions, and season-long tours could take the competitive experience to the next level.
Thanks for considering these ideas, and thank you for continuing to improve the platform.
Best regards,
A Home Tee Hero player
