Home Tee Hero - Choose Drop Location

I hit the ball OB at Pebble Beach on the weekly tournament and it made my take my next shot from behind a boulder on the bottom of the cliff...There needs to be an option to select a drop location on the line of your previous shot. It took 3 shots to get back in play after the penalty stroke.

  • Definitely need an update for drop location. I have not seen this exact issue yet, but even after hitting the ball in water the drop location is right on the edge of the water and sometimes at a severe down slope which makes the next shot over the water impossible at times since the ball comes out so low.

  • I have 3 complaints with HTH.

1- Drop locations like you're saying.  Almost every time you hit the water it puts the ball in an unplayable lie.  I've had a ton of frustration with this one to where I just quit playing my round and walked away.

2- Trees.  If you hit it in them you can't see if there is one in front of you, so it become hit and hope.

3- Fairway bunkers are far too penalizing.  Greenside seems appropriate, but if I'm in a fairway bunker with 150 yards to hole I shouldn't have to hit a 180 yard shot.

  • ...agreed... either let the user decide the drop location, or if that's too involved, then at least have the code pick a spot that makes sense from a golfer's standpoint... dropping the ball an inch from the creek's edge or pond's shoreline isn't something any golfer is ever going to do... drop back ten or fifteen yards, find a reasonably level spot out of the creek/stream's floodplain or a pond/lake's littoral zone that slopes to the shoreline...

  • Ya, and it being on a downslope isn't the only issue.  It's not even the correct drop spot half the time.  The program draws a straight line from where you hit the ball to where it went in the water and drops it there.  It takes in no account to last place crossed, so even if the ball hits land before the water it won't count it.

  • please help by submitting ideas at this location provided by garmin customer support https://garmin.com/ideas

  • This still is not fixed.  Had to hit a 7 wood that normally goes 200+ yds to clear a 135yd water hazard playing Augusta this weekend.  That's ridiculous - as per the request submitted the following to the "ideas" link below.  If others have different thoughts please submit.

Home Tee Hero app - Incorrect ball drop placement after hitting into water hazard. Please fix ball drop location to match rules of golf. I.e not on downslope 2 inches from waters edge (or in water for that matter). You should not have to hit a 7 wood that normally goes 200+ yards to cover a water hazard of only 135 yds... Technical solution - Ball drop should be on line that ball entered hazard, and away from the hazard. A ball pickup indicator, and a "choose drop location" along the flight path would be correct this.
