The new updated app is awesome, but chipping is now broken.

Before updating to the new home tee hero app, i very rarely had chips not read on my R10.  After the update now only about 1 in 5 reads from inside 30 yards. Also first time ever having issues with the unit freezing a few times a round.

i love the new graphics but certainly would be nice to get a fix for these.

  • The latest version of Home Tee Hero (1.0.2) should resolve this issue. Please check your app store to ensure you're running the latest version. If you continue to see any issues, please reach out product support team.

  • R10 user.  I can confirm version 1.0.2 does not fix chipping using HTH.  Seems to be worse for me before the update.  Will be switching to Awesome Golf until this is fixed.

  • Hello…not criticizing ur response but wanted to mention had posted we were experiencing these issues prior to the recent update.  My kids & I have played 3 full 18 hole rounds and have not experienced any chipping issues, not registering often multiple times, since the update.  Not sure of your setup but I hv mine ~7’ behind the mat, mat between R10 & mat, and about 9-10’ to screen.  I make sure R10 is level, in line with ball, and that I calibrate every time before we play.  Now if I could just correct my draw on my driver! Joy

  • Thanks for the response.  Glad yours is working.  My chipping is worse after the update.  I do all the things you mentioned.  I've tried several distances between the ball and the Garmin R10.  Chipping seems to work a little better when the R10 is closest to the ball at 6ft.  The R10 is on a tripod with a level.  I have at least 9ft from ball to net.  Before the app update, I very rarely had missed reads.  Now I have missed reads from 30 yards and less probably 1 out of every 3-4 shots.  I know it's not the end of the world, but I've seen that it can and should work almost flawlessly.  I'm just hoping Garmin is aware and still working on bug fixes with the updated HTH app.  I want to like it....but the chipping is super frustrating.

  • Yeah that’s too bad and agree they need to continue to work on refining the app…hope the next update works better for you.  I’ve continued to have issues with my driver mainly…had always hit straight, maybe a slight draw, but now I’m literally pulling drives left by 30+ yards.  I’ve tried angling the R10 left slightly which seems to help a little but it’s still off and driving ,e a bit nuts!  I don’t want to change my swing just to accommodate the launch monitor.  To your point about chipping, the awesome golf app doesn’t have near the same dramatic draw so it seems like it may be software related.

  • Yeah.  I wouldn't want to change my swing to accommodate a launch monitor either.  I'm too cheap to buy RCT balls, but I do add reflective dots/strips to my golf balls.  I'm not sure it makes a significant improvement in reading spin, but it does seem to give me more spin on my short irons.  Maybe you could try adding cheap reflective dots to your balls to see if it will help the R10 pickup accurate side spin for you?  May have already tried that, but just an idea.

  • Thanks, appreciate the suggestion.  I actually did purchase a dozen of the Titleist RCT balls early on as my kids went in on them with me along with a great cage/net/screen by Yunic so we have a pretty decent setup.  I do think the metal strips or RCT balls make a difference on the spin rate so that seems pretty accurate.  Maybe it’s just the older I get the less weight I’m getting through the ball and turn my hands more before impact.  I need to go to a range or a Top Golf to truly see if it’s accurate or even another simulator.
